Noggin Hill was born in 2009 thanks to the momentous meeting of bassist Chris Coyle and multi-instrumental folk savants Brendan Cooney and Nikolai Fox. Over fifteen years and hundreds of performances later, the band has grown into a unique collective that has taken old-time and bluegrass sounds, melded them with other styles, and spread musical ecstasy all around the mid-Atlantic region.
Noggin Hill has become a fixture of Philadelphia’s music scene. Over the years, the group has gained inspiration from the city’s incredible local artists and creative friends. Bluegrass is alive and well in south-eastern Pennsylvania! Along with the band’s founding trio, Noggin’s bandmates include Isaac Stanford (dobro, guitar), Cecilia Ferneborg (vocals), Ian Sigler (fiddle, guitar, vocals), and Zach Fay (fiddle, guitar vocals). Occasionally, they are joined by esteemed guest musicians such as June Bender, Dan Hanrahan, Pat Farrell, Jacob Hoffman, Brennen Ernst, Matt Hiller, and others.
